Book Cover: A New Age Manual for the New Mother / Bangkok Photographer
Monday, March 23, 2009 Duangthip Arora is a holistic health consultant and writer in Bangkok and the founder of Golden Awareness. Duangthip found me through BAMBI. I felt an instant bond with her when she first contacted me back in October to do the cover for her upcoming book A New Age Manual for the New Mother. We have exchanged numerous emails since then, and when I was in Bangkok this last November to photograph portraits I kept in mind Duangthip’s need for a cover image.
The cover Duangthip chose for her book was of a special client/friend of mine, Stefanie Svensson whose maternity portraits I had photographed the March prior. It was fantastic to spend the morning with Stefanie again in November and to meet her adorable new baby, Ryan. Ryan was so laid back and full of smiles - a photographer and mother’s dream!
I adore Stefanie, Ryan and Duangthip and I can’t wait to meet Duangthip for the first time in person next January when I return to Bangkok. I am also thrilled to be involved with this incredible project Duangthip has been “birthing” as she says. It’s a creation based on a subject I appreciate: natural parenting.
Duangthip says: “Most of the proceeds will go towards setting up a trust for the education of under-privileged children in this part of the world. As far as I can see, I don’t want to see even one uneducated child!”
The book is scheduled to come out in a April or May. I’ll put in an update once it hits the shelves!
